Bloom Sluggett is pleased to welcome Patrick Sweeney, whose practice spans complex litigation, zoning and land use matters, and appellate advocacy in courts across Michigan.
Patrick represents clients in state and federal trial courts, before the Michigan appellate courts, and in a variety of administrative tribunals. His experience includes handling zoning and land use disputes, complex commercial litigation, construction matters, election law issues, and cases involving personal injury and property damage. Known for his thoughtful approach and strong command of the law, Patrick brings versatility and depth to every matter he handles.
Patrick earned his Juris Doctor from Washington & Lee University School of Law and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Central Michigan University. Early in his legal career, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Stephen Markman of the Michigan Supreme Court, gaining valuable insight into appellate decision-making at the highest level of the state judiciary.
Before joining the firm, Patrick spent a decade with a midsized Grand Rapids law firm in its commercial litigation and real estate practice groups, where he advised and represented individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations across a wide range of disputes and transactions.
Patrick lives in Grand Rapids with his wife, their daughter, and two energetic dogs. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, games, good food, and any excuse to spend time with people he enjoys most.
We’re excited to have Patrick on our team and look forward to the experience and perspective he brings to our clients.
