We are pleased to announce that Scott Engerson, MMAO, a highly respected property tax professional with more than 30 years of assessing experience in West Michigan, has joined the firm.
Scott brings decades of hands-on municipal assessing experience, having served in senior roles throughout Kent County, including as assessor for Alpine Township, the City of Grand Rapids, and the City of Wyoming. His background provides Bloom Sluggett’s municipal clients with rare, practical insight into property valuation, assessment administration, and the municipal tax process.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University and is certified by the Michigan State Tax Commission as a Michigan Master Assessing Officer. In addition to his professional credentials, he has been a long-standing leader within the assessing community, previously serving as president of both the Michigan Assessors Association and the Kent County Association of Assessing Officers.
“Scott’s depth of experience and understanding of property tax administration from the assessor’s perspective is invaluable,” said Jeff Sluggett, Founding Partner at Bloom Sluggett. “His addition strengthens our ability to advise and represent municipalities in complex property tax matters with clarity, credibility, and precision.”
Scott will work closely with our firm’s municipal and tax teams, supporting local governments and taxing authorities in property tax appeals, valuation disputes, and related matters.
Bloom Sluggett, P.C. represents municipalities, public agencies, and taxing authorities across Michigan, providing strategic legal counsel in municipal law, property tax, litigation, labor and employment, and real estate matters.
