We’re pleased to welcome Mike to Bloom Sluggett, where he brings a strong background in public-sector law and municipal governance to our team.
Mike’s career has been shaped by hands-on experience inside government, the judiciary, and complex regulatory environments. After beginning his legal career in Washington, DC, where he worked in both the courts and federal government, Mike returned to West Michigan to serve as Assistant City Attorney and Director of Municipal Affairs for the City of Grand Rapids. In that role, he advised multiple city departments and boards on the legal issues that affect municipalities every day—from ordinances and policy development to zoning, land use, and property taxation.
That combination of judicial insight and real-world municipal experience allows Mike to approach legal questions with clarity, practicality, and an appreciation for how public decisions impact communities.
At Bloom Sluggett, Mike works closely with municipalities and public agencies, providing trusted legal guidance that helps local governments operate effectively, remain compliant, and plan for the future.
